Sabina blasted on the education scene as a volunteer at P.S. 126/Manhattan Academy of Technology as a college freshman. Working with third graders for two years enabled her to realize the opportunities to learn and how much potential young people have. She continued her work with first graders and sixth graders until graduating from Pace University in New York City with a B.A. in education and an M.Ed. in literacy.
On a blustery September day, Sabina began her professional journey. This is her fifth year working with students in middle school. She has been known to be awed by their creativity, humored by their point of views, and highly interested in the way the middle school mind thinks. When asked about her favorite time of day, she replies, "well, the writing share of course."
Sabina's current endeavors include developing herself as a historian as she 'digs' into Ancient Civilizations along side her current sixth graders as well as taking on the role of facilitating the learning of many students during the day and in the evening. Some say she lives for learning.
Her teaching is motivated by the potential of each human being she has the honor of working with. She strives to empower each student in order to rise up and take the power they deserve in society through the work experienced each day in the classroom.
Sabina really likes to watch LOST and loves sunny days. She also appreciates Jack Kerouac more than many other authors and is an advocate for reading over people's shoulders on the subway.
